AstreaIoT · sensors that alert you on WhatsApp when something on your site goes out of range

For distributors of meat, dairy and refrigerated groceries · NOM-251

the cold room at night, the open door and the log the chain asks for:
your product watched from the warehouse to the customer’s dock.

A night with the compressor stopped or a freezer door left ajar shows up in the morning, when the product is already out of range. And when the chain or the supermarket receives, it asks for the temperature log: without it, it is your driver’s word against the receiver’s. AstreaIoT watches every cold room and freezer in the warehouse, alerts on WhatsApp whoever can act and builds the log by itself.

what goes on each piece of equipment

each sensor goes on equipment you already have.

Five points in a distribution warehouse and where the sensor goes on each. All of them go on the outside: no equipment is replaced.

  • coldcold room

measures: the temperature inside the room, and every time the door opens.

installed: the probe on the wall, away from the evaporator; the contact on the door frame.

  • doordock door

measures: when the roll-up door opens and closes, with its time.

installed: at floor level, next to the track, with no wiring.

  • powerelectrical panel

measures: the current of each compressor: if one stops, you see it before the temperature.

installed: clamped around the cables, without cutting them.

  • coldfreezer room

measures: the frozen goods' temperature, at −18 °C, and every time the door opens.

installed: the probe on the wall, away from the evaporator; the contact on the door frame.

  • networkgateway

measures: it does not measure; it gathers the warehouse’s readings and sends them to the dashboard.

installed: on a mast, with the antenna clear above the roof.

One night at the warehouse, with sample data

what happens, and what you get.

  1. 10 days before

The platform sees the compressor working too hard.

The meat cold room's compressor has drawn more than 15 % over its baseline for two weeks. A recommendation is left in the dashboard: schedule the maintenance, while the room is still in range.

The recommendation in the dashboard, as the platform leaves it. Example.
  2. 01:20

The compressor cannot keep up: its current shoots up.

The blocked condenser makes it work too hard. At 01:30 it passes 15 A, 125 % of its nameplate, and the room starts to climb from 2.2 °C.

The room's log sheet is filled in three times a day. On October 27 the three readings were fine, and from 01:20 to 03:30 the meat cold room climbed to 3.8 °C with the compressor overloaded. The sheet does not see it; the sensor does, and the current alerted first.

The room starts to climb with the door shut and the compressor drawing no current: the alert comes when it passes 4 °C, with the likely cause, a power cut or a stopped compressor.

point 1 · cold room

per warehouse, in four steps.

  1. site survey

    1 day

Technical visit: inventory of cold rooms, freezers, doors and panels, and what each customer asks for at receiving.

  2. physical installation

    2–7 days per site

Sensors in every cold room and freezer, a current meter on each compressor and a gateway that stores readings while there is no connection, without stopping operations.

  3. rules and alerts

    by role

Ranges per room, a day rule and a night rule for the doors, and who gets each alert on WhatsApp.

  4. the truck

    per project

When you want the route with temperature: sized per unit, with the SIM and coverage of your routes.

To start, you tell us which cold rooms and freezers we watch, what each customer asks for at receiving and who gets the alert, in what order. The gateway needs a power outlet and cell signal.
The norm and calibration. NOM-251-SSA1-2009 asks for cold chain temperature records: readings every few minutes per room, timestamped with a change log, and the period report as a PDF. Each sensor comes with its factory calibration report; it is not a certificate from a lab accredited by the ema. For the audit, your calibrated thermometer is still the reference.

who we are.

AstreaIoT is the monitoring platform of Astrea Technologies, an engineering and software company in Monterrey since 2018. The sensor network is ours, we build the platform and the app, and the hardware comes from manufacturers we work with directly. We install in northern Mexico with our own team and in the rest of the country with partner integrators.

common questions before the quote.

Are the truck’s GPS and temperature included?

Not in today’s box: the truck’s box and the route with temperature are delivered per project. It is sized per unit, with a cellular sensor in the box or a mobile gateway, and needs a SIM and coverage on your routes.

Can it connect to old cold rooms and freezers?

Yes. The sensors are external and mount on any equipment, without touching the refrigeration system and without stopping operations.

What happens if the warehouse loses internet?

The gateway stores the readings while there is no connection and uploads them when it comes back. The sensors keep recording and everything syncs on reconnect.

How are the sensors calibrated, and how often?

Each sensor ships with its factory calibration report. It is not a certificate from a lab accredited by ema: for the inspection, your calibrated thermometer remains the reference, and the platform keeps each device’s certificate in its calibration record. Recalibration every 12 months: we keep the calendar.

What if I also run warehouses for third parties?

The refrigerated warehouses and 3PL page covers third-party rooms and the report for each brand. It is the same platform.

the warehouse’s next night is already watched.

Thirty minutes. You tell us how many cold rooms and freezers you have, how many units go out on routes and what each customer asks for at receiving. We hand you a quote per warehouse and what goes per project.
